Spa Treatment

Spas commonly means hot tubs and cool drinks in many Western countries. "However, spa means more than that, " said Lindsey Adair, consultant at the spa in the Hilton Shanghai. "It also stands for incorporates fitness, relaxation and nutrition."

"Our aerobic courses include programs like yoga, shadow boxing and spinning. For those who want the Spa to provide them with extra motivation, personal training is highly recommended," Adair said.

As far as relaxation is concerned, there is a sauna, a steam room, a jacuzzi, and a water pool with massage jets. The clients can also collect their thoughts in the relaxation room before, after or even as a break between exercises.

Nutrition is an essential aspect of health, and clients can consult the spa therapist for advice and even recipes.

The club also features special treatments which combine the essence from both oriental and Western therapy to help members achieve better health.

"Chinese girls prefer fair complexions to dark ones, so our whitening treatment is very popular here," Adair said.

The whitening treatment controls and normalizes melanin production. It brightens the skin while toning down pigmentation marks.

The club also designs fitness facial treatment especially for men. This facial cleanses, hydrates, moisturizes and refreshes male clients' skin. This treatment includes a relaxing hand and foot massage.

Body therapy in the Spa features aromatic salts, seaweed, wax and other essence.

"Photographs are taken before and after treatment to ensure that clients achieve the results they are looking for," the therapists said.
