HK Ocean Park Launches Christmas Festivities

Hong Kong's hottest tourist attraction, Hong Kong Ocean Park, Wednesday launched a series of Christmas festivities to give local visitors an exciting experience of snow and ice sliding.

Amidst the backdrop of a traditional alpine village in the winter, visitors can experience a special Christmas in Hong Kong with all the trimmings, a new outdoor skating spectacular performed by professional ice skaters from the U.S. and Switzerland and other countries.

The main highlight of this year's event is the fabulous winter sled and slide. For the first time ever in Hong Kong, visitors will have the chance to experience the thrill of sledding down a 5.4 white slope, with snow falling down overhead.

Other holiday treats include the distinctive Santa on Stilts, Christmas carolers, Santa's band and many more. Christmas ornaments adorning the entire Christmas village area will merrily light up the nighttime sky from dusk to the closing of the park.

These events were aimed at making every visit to the park a fresh and unique experience, as well as helping "maintain the territory as a world class tourist destination," said Randolph Guthrie, chief executive of Ocean Park.

Opened in January 1977, Ocean Park has over the years built itself into a world-class attraction and ranked among the top 25 theme parks with regards to attendance in the world.
