Snow Sculpture Contest Ends in Northeast China

"Mother love" a snow sculpture created by Russian artists has won the first prize in the International Snow Sculpture Contest in Harbin, capital of northeast China's Heilongjiang Province.

Works from the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Japan, China and Romania also won prizes in the four-day contest which ended on Sunday.

More than 60 national and foreign artists gathered on Taiyang Island (Sun Island), a scenic spot in Harbin, and created 20 sculptures in a variety of styles.

The contest is an important part of the annual Harbin International Ice-Snow Festival, and has brought a flood of tourists to the city.
