Major Fashion Show Staged in Beijing

A major fashion show was staged here Wednesday night to mark the opening of the 10th China International Clothing and Accessories Fair, the largest of its kind in Asia.

During the 90-minute show, more than 30 domestic and overseas models displayed over 100 costumes designed by Chen Yifei, a Chinese artist well known for the harmonious combination of the traditional and modern in oil painting, fashion design and advertising.

The Spring and Summer Collection of Yifei Group consisted of four parts featuring ceremonial dress, sportswear, traditional garments and professional clothing.

Chen and his company will organize a two-month tour of the same fashion show in a number of major Chinese cities, including Shanghai, Guangzhou, Wuhan and Chongqing.

The 10th China International Clothing and Accessories Fair, sponsored by the China Garment Association, will include six forums, 20 local brands shows, 10 trends shows and 13 Hong Kong fashion shows.

The annual event was initiated in 1993. For the 2001 fair, the direct trade volume was 3.5 billion yuan.
