Paintings of 19th-Century Hong Kong Displayed

An exhibition called "Hong Kong Memories: Selected Historical Pictures of the 19th Century" opened Monday at the Hong Kong Museum of Art.

Featuring about 50 oil paintings, watercolors and prints, the exhibition illustrates the scenery and life style in Hong Kong through the opening of the port to the late 19th century.

Those valuable works of art were made by artists of both Chinese and Western origins and have now been esteemed as historical as well as aesthetic treasures.
