Top Tenor's Performance Welcomed in Shanghai

All the tickets for Placido Domingo's concert have already been sold, according to the latest news released by the organizers - the Shanghai Grand Theatre and Shanghai TV Station. This includes the extra 50 tickets recently added.

According to report of China Daily, the concert will be held at the Shanghai Grand Theatre on January 5, and will also star two Chinese singers, Liao Changyong and He Hui.

According to Le Shengli, director of the theatre, the concert is intended to increase the fame of the Shanghai Grand Theatre.

Two years ago, when world-famous tenor Jose Carreras staged a solo concert at the Shanghai Grand Theatre to the acclaim of the audiences, Le decided to invite Domingo to sing at the theatre as well.

Despite the fact that the tickets for the concert range in price from 500-3,000 yuan (US$60-360), the 300 highest-priced tickets sold out in just 10 days.

In order to satisfy the demand of music lovers, there will also be a live broadcast of the concert in Maxim's Cafe Bar on the ground floor of the Shanghai Grand Theatre, at the price of 200 (US$24) yuan per ticket.
