Northeast China Holds Ice-Snow Tourism Festival

An ice and snow tourism festival opened Monday, attracting not only state tourism administration officials, but also foreign ambassadors and airline representatives.

The 49-day festival is sponsored by the provincial government of northeast China's Jilin province and the State Tourism Administration.

The festival is part of the 2001 China Physical Culture Tour, which according to Sun Gang, deputy director of the State Tourism Administration, also includes an international hoarfrost festival in Jilin city in Jilin province, an ice-snow festival in the Changbaishan Mountain and a dawn-greeting festival in Huichun city of Jilin.

Located in the middle of China's northeast, Jilin has long been famous for its beautiful snow-covered landscapes in winter.
