Shows Held to Mark Agency's Anniversary

The China International Exhibition Agency has celebrated its 50th anniversary with two one-week exhibitions at the Yanhuang Art Museum in Beijing.

One is an exhibition of selected Chinese ink paintings, calligraphy works and oil paintings. The other is a photo show featuring major events in the life of a leading art exhibition organizer in China. Both shows close today.

Viewers can see works by master Chinese artists from the last century such as Ren Bo'nian, Wu Changshuo, Qi Baishi, Pan Tianshou, Xu Beihong and Fu Baoshi, as well as works by active contemporary artists including Wu Guanzhong, Sun Weimin, Wang Yidong and He Duoling.

The China International Exhibition Agency was founded in 1950 as an affiliate to the Ministry of Culture.

The agency has engaged in a wide range of international cultural exchange activities, organizing more than 1,500 exhibitions in collaboration with foreign countries and overseas art institutions over the past five decades.

Since mid-2000, the agency has integrated with the China Performing Arts Agency and China Cultural International Tours Inc to form a strategic operating pack which will finally become a cultural industry group, according to agency General Manager Zhang Yu.
