Series on Pottery

A 15-volume series on Chinese pottery and porcelain was published in Shanghai last Thursday.

The series surveys the history and changes in characteristics of Chinese pottery and porcelain from the Neolithic Age some 8,000 years ago to the end of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).

The books contain pictures of 3,600 pieces of porcelain and pottery excavated from sites around the country.

The series also introduces the processes of excavation and research used by archaeologists to reconstruct the story of China's porcelain and pottery.

According to Wang Qingzheng, the project's editor-in-chief, the books demonstrate that the best pieces of Chinese pottery and porcelain remain preserved on the Chinese mainland.
