Bronze Drum Found in Guangxi

A bronze drum handed down from the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911)has been found in a home of Licun village, Rongxian county, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

With a diameters of 50.5 cm, the drum is 29.6 cm high and weighs 17 kilogram. Judging from the shape and the textured surface, the drum is believed to be made in the late period of the Qing Dynasty.

Drums of this type are available mainly in the areas in south and southwest China such as Guangxi, Guizhou Province, Yunnan Province, Sichuan Province, and Guangdong Province. It is still used in major festivals of ethnic groups.
