Explosion in Shaanxi Kills 47 People

Forty-seven people were killed and another 85 people were injured in an explosion that took place early Monday morning in a village of Yulin City, northwest China's Shaanxi Province.

According to local sources, all injured people were hospitalized, and seven severely wounded persons have already survived critical conditions after emergency treatment.

The explosion occurred around 03:20 hours on July 16 at the storehouse in Mafang Village, Dangcha Township of Hengshan County, Yulin City and the storehouse was said to be owned by self-employed people who hid explosives in the storehouse.

After the accident broke out, local provincial Party and government authorities led a rescue team and rushed to the accident site.

By late Monday night, the site of the accident was fully cleared up.
