A sports-themed Spring Festival fair was held in Jinji town in northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, where the Hui ethnic minority gather and live on Thursday.

Thousands of villagers from nearby villages watched athletic shows and took part in funny sports games at the fair. Free physical examinations were also available for villagers. 

Some villagers raced in a funny relay carrying grain sacks at a sports-themed Spring Festival fair in Jinji town in northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region on Thursday.

Yangge, a style of celebration dance very popular in the Chinese countryside, is performed at the fair.
