Robo-game to Become Annual Event

Robots of various shapes are dancing. This is the scene at the ongoing Robo-Game week at the Chinese University of Science and Technology situated in Hefei, capital city of south China’s Anhui Province.

The Robo-Game week began on Monday and will include activities such as a robot football match, a performance of machine dogs, a robot dancing show and a series of lectures.

Thirty-five teams from 12 departments at the university will take part in the event.

The Chinese University of Science and Technology has long enjoyed the fame of "China's home of football robots". The Artificial Intelligence Center of the university started research into football robots in 1996. Its "Blue Hawk" robot football team has taken part in the fourth and fifth Robot World Cup Initiatives (Robocup) and ranked well.

Professor Cheng Yi, vice-president of the university said: "We have laid great emphasis on the research of robots and various robot games, as they are of indispensable value to the training of students' creativity and team spirits."

Cheng added that the university will make the Robo-Game an annual event.
