PET/CT Scanners Arrive in HK, the First in Asia

Hong Kong-based AmMed Cancer Center and First Oriental Nuclear Medicine Limited jointly announced Tuesday they have completed installation of PET/CT fusion scanners in Hong Kong.

This is the first time the scanners, representing the latest cancer diagnostic technology, arrived in Asia.

The PET/CT scanner fuses the fastest and most sophisticated computed tomography (CT) scanner with the most advanced positron emission tomography (PET) system to help doctors see and treat cancer more accurately.

It also can reduce the amount of time that patients will have to spend undergoing multiple procedures.

AmMed Cancer Center is a joint venture between AmMed International and Hong Kong Adventist Hospital, and First Oriental Nuclear Medicine Limited is a company that operates the nuclear medicine department of the Hong Kong Baptist Hospital.
