Mobile Art Gallery Launched in HK

Mobile Art Gallery, a program to bring art works on the theme of environmental protection by using bus as display medium, was launched in Hong Kong Saturday.

The program, jointly organized by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), Hong Kong Arts Development Council and the New World First Bus Services, would present 61 works by 12 artists selected from an open competition.

Choi Suk-kuen, deputy director of LCSD, said the organizers hoped to promote the awareness of environmental protection and to extend the reach of artworks by bringing them out of museums and galleries to become part of the public's daily life.

"We also hope that it will help to introduce Hong Kong art to overseas visitors and to show them that as a vibrant city, Hong Kong not only values environmental protection, but is also full of an artistic ambience," she said.

Choi also said, "We sincerely wish that more local corporations would join us in promoting Hong Kong art."
