Photo Show on Taiwan Attracts Thousands in Xining

Thousands of local residents in Xining, capital of northwest China's Qinghai Province, have visited a photographic show on the Taiwan issue since it opened on May 13.

The show features 520 pictures divided into six sections. It introduces the history and modern development of Taiwan Province, how a few people intend to separate the island province from the mainland of China, and the consistent policies of the Chinese government on solving the Taiwan issue.

Wang Dan, an 11-year-old girl, wrote in the visitors' book, "Taiwan is the daughter of the motherland," expressing her desire for Taiwan’s reunification with the motherland.

Guo Ping, a local resident born in Taiwan, said, "It is excellent."

Yu Liping, a female customs officer, said, "The exhibition helps us to have a better understanding of Taiwan in all respects." She expects more people will visit the exhibition.

The most popular sentiment in the visitors' book -- China must be reunified -- was expressed in Chinese, Tibetan and other ethnic languages.

The exhibition will run until May 31 and then move to other counties in the province.
