Circular on Job Arrangement for Retired Servicemen

The State Council and the Central Military Commission have recently issued a circular on job arrangement for soldiers of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) who are to retire from active service this winter.

The document called on government departments at various levels, organizations, enterprises and institutions to enroll retired servicemen.

It requires local governments at various levels to ensure that the retired servicemen in urban areas have job offers by the local governments.

The circular said that the arrangement of the retired servicemen should continue to abide by the Military Service Law and other relevant regulations.

In line with the requirement for building socialist market economy, the government and the Central Military Commission will take measures to directly offer job opportunities and help in the seeking of jobs.

The government also encourages the retired servicemen to become self-employed workers. Those who want to become self-employed can have subsidies and enjoy other preferential policies in employment adopted by the local governments.

Retired servicemen who have been cited by the PLA for their contributions, having been in service in areas with poor natural conditions and wounded servicemen can enjoy preferential policies in seeking jobs.

The circular called for the servicemen to be trained in professional skills so as to be more competitive in job seeking.
