China's Postal Network Tops the World

Guo Xiaohong

China has developed the largest postal service network in the world in terms of the number of post offices and postal routes, the amount of mail delivery equipment, and the use of postal transport.

The postal service features a complete, modern delivery network that boasts 236 delivery centers serving the whole country, 67,000 postal bureaus and offices, 22,000 postal routes with a total length of 2.98 million km and 30,000 postal vehicles.

Since September 1, 1999, China has launched a system of scientific renovation and management improvement that speeds up the delivery by 2-3 days. Since October 1, people in 2,300 county-level or above places have enjoyed home delivery service. In addition, the postal service offers E-shopping, E-remittance, E-stamp-collecting, and E-newspaper-and-magazine subscription services.

China has established postal communication relationships with 150 countries and regions. It can send express mail to 200 countries and regions, and its international-remittance business covers 20 countries and regions.
