China Approves Big Funding to Build Libraries

More than 600 libraries and community culture centers will be build with government funding across the country within four years, according to a document released by the Ministry of Culture.

Tuesday's China Daily cited the document as saying that the fund will allocate 100 million yuan (US$12.05 million) each year to the construction of the culture facilities.

It said that the move is aimed to improve the situation in some poverty-stricken counties where no library or culture center exists in China's western region.
