Yunnan’s Erhai Lake Regains Purity

Three Ethnic Bai women wash vegetables in the Erhai Lake, which located on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, southwest China. The once polluted lake by blue green algae regained purity after effective controls to curb the pollution since 1997.

Erhai, covering 250 square km and being the second largest fresh water lake in Yunnan Province, is named as the “mother lake” by local people.
