Fishermen’s Children Go to School

The photo shows that a father holding his son prepares to stride over the water from a boat in Ningde City, south China’s Fujian Province April 26, 2001.

A “Hope Foundation” jointly sponsored by Ningde Public Security Bureau and the local fishermen gives hope to the children yearning for education at school.

As most of the 8,000 fishermen are from other provinces, it has brought problems to the education of children. The measure has ensured the schooling of more than 100 school-aged children and 38 others from poor families.
