Xinjiang Herdsmen Leading a Stationary Life

Most herdsmen in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, who moved about in search of pasture for generations, have settled down to a stationary life on the grassland.

With a 76 percent of them leading such a life as they are now they have come to live with a per-capita income of RMB 1,750yuan from past RMB 380yuan/year. Photo shows a herdswoman selling traditional Kazakh tapestries to tourists.
