Anticancer Club

Cancer has become a terrifying threat to people's lives. Statistics show that 22.88 percent of urban deaths are due to cancer. In the world, about 5 to 6 million cancer sufferers die each year. However, the Anticancer Club of Zhengzhou, capital of central China's Henan Province, has set a record whereby no cancer sufferer has died in the past three years.

The club is composed of more than 100 cancer sufferers. What they have learned from their experience is that one should battle against the fatal illness with a good mood, optimistic attitude and matchless stamina.

All patients in the club cooperate closely with doctors and medical workers. Each day, they go to nearby parks to do morning excises and appropriate physical training. They help and encourage each other.

There is one young couple in the club. The husband worked in a foreign-funded enterprise, but eventually he could not walk due to cancer. At four in the morning, his wife pushed him to the club by wheelchair and helped him walk haltingly. This continued for a considerable period. Now, the man cannot only walk for two hours, but also can transport his wife to work by motorcycle.

Mr. Wang has been his wife's "trainer" and "medical worker" for more than two years. With his encouragement, Mrs. Wang has never missed a training session no matter what the weather. She lives happily with her family. However, two of her fellow patients, both young men, died due to lung cancer. Mr. Wang has created a miracle of life through the loving support of his wife.
