Child-Molesting Singer Sentenced to Jail

Hong Dou, a famous Chinese young singer was sentenced to three and half year’s jail in June 20, 2002 by Chaoyang Court in Beijing for sex abusing seven boys.

Hong Dou, whose original name is Wang Liyong, lured seven boys of a middle school belonging to Beijng Dance Academy to his home and a hotel room, abused them though fellatio and sodomy several times from April 2000 to June 2001. He was arrested by police in December 17, 2001.

According to Criminal Law, Hong Don had committed the crime of child harassment and was sentenced to jail after the first instance.

Being a famous singer, Hong Dou had once topped the domestic box office by a movie named Wild Flashing Spirit last summer. In October of the same year, he was elected as the "image ambassador" of a "Safe and Health Project" held by China's Children's Fundation.

Reporters who witnessed the judgment said Hong Dou looked pale after a few month of imprisonment. His attorney said they will decide whether or not to submit an appeal after consulting Hong Dou himself.
