Wild Duck Lake Found in Ningxia

A lake inhabited by wild ducks was recently found in Tongxin County in northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.

The lake is already a home to more than 500 wild ducks, which are twice the number of ordinary ducks.

As the lake is free of ice during winter, thousands of wild ducks flock to the lake when autumn comes each year.

The ducks share the lake with a flock of sheep, who drink the water at the shallow part of lake during Summer, said Li Cunzhong, a local herdsman of Hui nationality.

Li attributed the larger duck crowd at the lake recently to the long grass that has grown free since local farmers shifted from crop growth to processing stones with a stone yard being built two years ago.
