The Third International Conference of Asian Political Parties

On September 3-5, 2004, the Third International Conference of Asian Political Parties was held in Beijing. It is the first international meeting sponsored by the CPC in its history. After the meeting, leaders and representatives of 81 political parties and organizations from 35 countries issued the Beijing Declaration, calling on Asian political parties to enhance unity and cooperation.

The event promoted mutual understanding and trust among Asian countries and their political parties. At the meeting, the new CPC central leadership fully elaborated its idea of governance with focus on keeping up with the times, as well as China's independent foreign policy of peace and its policy to seek friendship and partnership with neighboring countries. These efforts helped representatives of participating foreign political parties deepen their understanding of the CPC, which also consolidated and prompted friendly relations between the CPC and political parties of neighboring countries.
