New Toilet Reduces Water Consumption
Adjust font size:

An environmentally friendly toilet has hit the market in Shanghai.

The new toilet saves water and sells at a similar price to existing high water-consumption toilets. It can save half the water per flush compared to existing toilets. Each flush uses 4.8 liters of water.

According to experts, Shanghai households on average consume over 40 percent of their daily total of water by flushing toilets.

There are 2 million toilets in Shanghai that consume 9 liters of water per flush and 400,000 toilets that consume 12 liters of water or more per flush.

Experts said residents could save 4 million liters of water a year by upgrading their toilets to the new environmentally friendly ones.
