Environment Unfriendly Businesses to Be Disqualified
Adjust font size:

China's quality mark evaluator has warned it will disqualify environment-unfriendly businesses from its service.

China Top Brand Strategy Promotion Committee has said all firms applying for the quality mark must reach certain environmental criteria.

The committee has closely monitored its quality mark evaluation work following reported pollution by Hubei-based Huali Dye Company under the Hubei Chuyuan Chemical Company.

The State Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (SAQSIQ) authorizes the committee to deal with the quality mark application and evaluation.

Reactive dye produced by Hubei Chuyuan Chemical Company was granted the quality mark in November.

However, Huali Dye Company is alleged to have caused severe pollution with waste water discharges topping 10,000 tons per day and smoke emissions seriously damaging the health of nearby residents.

The SAQSIQ is investigating the case and the quality mark of the reactive dye will be revoked if the allegations are proved.

Companies that have their products granted the quality mark are awarded certificates and their products branded with the authorized symbol.

Companies are eager to get quality mark to improve their reputations and build good market image.

The major criteria for products with quality mark involve market position, customer response, product quality, company performance and profitability and technological capacity.
