Forest Fire near Sino-Russian Border Put out

Chinese fire fighters have put out a fire that broke out on Sunday at a forest farm in an inner Mongolian city near the Sino-Russian border, with no casualties reported, local government sources said Monday.

Police are investigating the cause of the fire.

The fire broke out on Sunday afternoon at the silver birch and pine forest at the Xing'an forest farm near Ergune City, which borders Russia. More than 400 fire fighters and local residents participated in the operation, according to the city's publicity department.

The fire was completely put out on Monday morning, according to the department.

More than 100 fire fighters remain on site to ensure there are no new flare ups.
