At the Shanghai Film Festival in June 2005, Ke, who starred in the film Shen Nong Jia, made an impassioned confession to the public, “The ecological environment of the Shennongjia Nature Reserve was damaged by the production crew.” This resulted in public outrage, and the film’s producers, unhappy with her remarks, sued Ke for damaging their reputation and affecting box-office takings, and claimed two million yuan in compensation. In July 2006, the People’s Court of Haidian District of Beijing ordered in favor of Ke.
