CPC to Strengthen Work of Political Advisory

The Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee held a meeting Wednesday on how to strengthen and keep improving the work of the CPPCC, the top political advisory body.

The meeting, chaired by Hu Jintao, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, said it is imperative to reinforce the work of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and give full play to its role so as to "further improve CPC's governing capability, develop socialist democracy, build a socialist harmonious society and push forward the great cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics."

In doing the work of the CPPCC well, it is favorable to unite all the forces that can be united with to the maximum, and consolidate and expand the broadest patriotic united front, and it is conducive to persevere in and further improve the multi-party cooperation and political consultation under the leadership of the CPC and strengthen the CPC's unity and cooperation with various non-Communist parties and democratic personages without any party affiliations.

The meeting calls on the CPPCC to make "promoting development" its primary task and give a better scope to its role in political consultations, actively press ahead with democratic supervision and participation in deliberation and administration of state affairs and do a good, effective job in its self-development.

Meanwhile, the meeting inspired Party organizations at various levels to fully realize the importance of the CPPCC work and help the CPPCC to make new progress in its work.
