A reception was held on Tuesday by the Cameroon embassy in China to mark the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Cameroon.

Addressing the reception, the Cameroon ambassador Eleih-Elle Etian said the friendly cooperation between Cameroon and China has produced fruitful results over the past 35 years and the Cameroon government appreciates China's unconditional assistance with Cameroon's economic development.

He said Cameroon and China share similar views on many key international issues and he believed bilateral ties would be further consolidated within the framework of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum.

Li Jinzhang, China's vice foreign minister, said since the forging of diplomatic ties 35 years ago, the two countries have conducted fruitful cooperation in the fields of politics, economy, trade and culture.

He said China appreciates the Cameroon government's firm adherence to the one-China policy and its support of China's national reunification.

"China hopes to take the 35th anniversary as an opportunity to further boost the bilateral friendly cooperative relations with Cameroon," he said.
