Palestinian sources closed to the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas)-led government denied on Monday that Qatar had presented a new initiative of six points in an effort to form a Palestinian national coalition government.

The sources told media that they have no information on the Qatari plan as Qatari Foreign Minster Hamad Bin Jasmin Al Thani would arrive in Gaza later on Monday.

Khaled Meshaal, Hamas politburo member in Damascus, Syria, also didn't react with acceptance or refusal to such initiative, added the sources.

Earlier reports said that the Qatari foreign minster would arrive in Gaza on Monday to meet separately with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Ismail Haneya to present suggestions on the formation of a Palestinian national unity government.

Yasser Abed Rabbo, member of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), confirmed that Qatar has presented a political plan of six points to bridge gaps between Abbas and the Hamas leadership over the formation of a unity government.

He told the Voice of Palestine radio that the Qatari plan was in line with a two-state solution to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and called for honoring the Arab Peace Initiative and activating the PLO.

If Qatari efforts failed, "the only exit would be an early election", said Abed Rabbo.

It was reported that the Qatari foreign minister, comes from Damascus, Syria, has succeeded in getting the approval of Damascus-based Hamas politburo chief Khaled Mashaal for the Qatari initiative.

An independent Palestinian lawmaker has been mediating between President Abbas and the Hamas-led government in an effort to overcome differences that delayed the formation of the national unity government, said media reports.
