China to Push Strategic Cooperation with the Philippines

China attaches importance to the relations with the Philippines, and is willing to push forward their strategic cooperation, said Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi on Monday.

 

During his talks with the Philippine Secretary of foreign Affairs Alberto Romulo, Yang said China-Philippines relations are now in a "golden period" of all-round development.

 

The two sides have deepened political trust and cooperation in all areas, and maintained consultation in regional and international affairs, he said.

 

Yang also expressed appreciation for the Philippine government's adherence to the one-China policy.

 

omulo said the relations between the Philippines and China have developed smoothly and their cooperation expanded. The frequent meetings between their leaders play an important role in improving the relationship.

 

He said the Philippines will make joint effort with China to contribute to regional peace, development and prosperity.

 

The two sides also exchanged views on the regional forum of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and other issues of common concern.

 

Romulo arrived in Beijing Saturday for a four-day visit to China at the invitation of Yang.
