Siemens Builds New Plant in Suzhou
Construction of a new plant for Siemens Electrical Apparatus Co Ltd (Suzhou), a Sino-German joint venture, has begun in the New and High-Tech Industrial Development Zone of Suzhou, a scenic city in east China's Jiangsu Province.

According to local sources, the new plant of the joint venture will cover an area of 25,000 square meters and have a floor space of 13,000 square meters. The forest coverage around the new plant will be 31 percent.

The company was founded in June 1994 by Siemens Company of Germany and Suzhou Machine Tools and Electrical Apparatus Factory with an investment of US$28 million.

The joint venture is the only enterprise on the Chinese mainland with authorization from Siemens to produce low-voltage electrical apparatuses. The original site of the joint venture is situated at Pingsi Road of the old Suzhou.

The Sino-German joint venture has achieved good economic benefits since its establishment, with its products being major protected products in Jiangsu Province.

The new plant has shown the joint venture's decision to expand its scale of production, said local sources.
