Shanghai General Motors Corp. Ltd. announced the national launch of a cheaper model of its Buick sedan yesterday.

The company hopes this will help expand its presence in the middle- and high-end auto market. The new Buick G2.5 model is an upgraded version of the Buick G sedan, which sold for 293,000 yuan (US$35,300). The Buick G2.5 will sell for 288,800 yuan. The new version is equipped with a V6 engine and two-layer sunroof.
