Motorola to Build Chip Base in Southwest China
Motorola will invest US$375 million to build an advanced chip production base in southwest China's Sichuan Province.

Lu Haifan, general manager of the joint chip producer Leshan-Phoenix, said the project will start on August 8, when Motorola's chip product line in Malaysia will be moved to Leshan.

Lu said the joint venture so far has a total input of US$250 million.

Motorola entered China in 1987, and is the biggest foreign investor in China in the field of electronics, with a total investment of US$278 million.
