Editor's Note:

Earth Hour is an annual international event sponsored by the WWF (World Wildlife Fund), held on the last Saturday of March, which asks households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights and electrical appliances for one hour from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm.

World embraces darkness for 'Earth Hour'

Based on an idea successfully executed in Thailand in 2005, it was pioneered by WWF Australia and the Sydney Morning Herald in 2007, and achieved worldwide participation in 2008.

Earth Hour 2010 continued to be a global call to action to every individual, every business and every community. A call to stand up, to show leadership and be responsible for our future.
