Mahajanga lies on the northwest coast of Madagascar, at the mouth of the Betsiboka River. A mangrove forest with an area of more than 5,000 square km grows in the swamp here, the habitant for mollusk, shellfish, tropical fishes and rare birds. But the delicate saline balance may be disturbed by the global warming.
