Ukraine's capital Kiev had its warmest November temperature record broken with a high of 18.9 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.

"At 14:00 by the local time, the National Meteorology Administration recorded 18.9 degrees Celsius,"the country's Central Geophysical Observatory (CGO) said in a statement.

According to the CGO, Kiev previously had experienced the warmest temperature of 16 degrees Celsius on Nov.10, 1927, in contrast to the lowest point of minus 11 registered in 1942.

The National Meteorology Administration said the temperature would start to decline next week, but this November will be unusually warm.

Generally Ukrainians suffer cold and rainy weather with a temperature barely above zero in mid November.

Many residents in Kiev had complained in October that it was cold in their houses because the start of the heating season in the city had been delayed.

Forecasters say real winter would come in early December with heavy snow and frosty temperatures.
