A bushfire that threatened lives and homes in an eastern Perth suburb in Western Australia (WA) has been brought under control, the Fire and Emergency Services Authority (FESA) of WA said on Thursday.
A bushfire emergency warning for residents of three streets in the eastern part of Forrestfield was lifted on Thursday afternoon and replaced with a watch and act alert.
At noon residents in that area had been urged to evacuate as the approaching bushfire threatened lives and homes.
The slow-moving blaze was soon brought under control by 90 firefighters assisted by helicopters, the FESA said in a statement.
A number of roads in the suburb were closed and motorists were advised to avoid the area.
The FESA said the fire had burnt through 10 hectares in the Lesmurdie Falls National Park in WA, 22 km east of Perth.
