Three workers were killed and three others are in critical situation after they were poisoned by a toxic gas leak at the Tianyuan Manganese Industry Co., Ltd. in Zhongning county, Northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region just before 1:00 am Thursday, the Xinhua News Agency reported.

A total of 24 workers have been hospitalized, and the cause of the accident is under investigation.

Tianyuan slammed down the phone on a Global Times reporter who called for comment.
