Croatia is now fully participating in global efforts to work towards tackling climate change, said the Croatian Ambassador to China on Sep. 21.

Ambassador Ante Simonić said that climate change is a global problem which can only be solved with a joint global effort.

“We have to participate in trying to find solutions and in trying to find appropriate answers to this challenge,” said Simonić.

The ambassador emphasized that Croatia, despite not yet being a full member of the European Union, now observes all EU protocols with regard to climate change. Croatia has recently completed negotiations for its full membership of the EU, and its membership status is likely to be confirmed and recognized next year by all 27 member states.

The ambassador also stressed that Croatia is now looking to work with the EU to find new ways of tackling the issue of climate change.

“It’s our duty. We are obliged to do everything possible,” said Simonić.
