A 4.7-magnitude earthquake jolted Ilan county in Taiwan at 4:30 p.m. Thursday Beijing Time, the China Earthquake Networks Center said.
The epicenter was monitored at 24.5 degrees north latitude and 122.1 degrees east longitude with a depth of 9 km, according to the center.
According to the island's meteorological authorities, the magnitude of the earthquake was 4.8, and the epicenter was monitored to be 33 kilometers southeast to the county government seat.
Xinhua reporters in Taipei felt slight tremor.
There has been no immediate reports on casualties or property losses on the island.
