An earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale jolted off the east coast of Honshu, Japan at 18:53: 17 GMT on Monday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 12.50 km, was initially determined to be at 39.5276 degrees north latitude and 143.1960 degrees east longitude.
