Farmer Hu Huailing uses a milk-like nutritional solution to irrigate her cucumber field in Qianjie Village, Linshu County in east China's Shandong Province on March 3, 2008.

This solution improves the cucumbers' growth environment, and its yield increased by 20 percent after exposure to the "milk," Hu Huailing said.

China News Service reported that Hu Huailing's five greenhouses produce over 80 kilograms of cucumbers each day, but still cannot meet the demand.
