Xinhua News Agency reports that the theme of those activities is "Get to know the earth for harmonious development."

This year marks the thirty-ninth World Earth Day.

Since it was first launched in the United States in 1970, the 22nd of April has since become a day in which millions who are environmentally conscious take part in educating people on pollution, environmental degradation, and government policies and so on.
