A flash flood killed one person and five others were missing after it hit a forest farm in the southern Guangdong Province on Thursday afternoon.

The flood, triggered by torrential rain from tropical storm Fengshen, occurred at 6 PM in the Taidong village of Huaiji county, toppling a workshop of the Dingfeng Paper Co. Ltd and burying eight people.

One man was later pulled out and confirmed dead, while two others were injured and sent to hospital. They were both described as "out of danger".

Nearly 300 rescuers are still searching for the five missing.

The eight people are a family of migrant workers from the southwestern Guizhou Province.
