Science meets fresh air in botanical gardens

The serious aim of the festival is to promote awareness of how science and technology can help save natural resources and protect the environment. All sorts of inventions are on display. Mr Jin, who has devised a simple modification to flush toilets that can save two tons of water per person per month, is eager to explain his idea to visitors.

We found Ms Liu decorating an environment-friendly bag in one of the practical experiencing area. "It's really interesting to be able to make your own environmentally-friendly bags. If everyone becomes aware of the need to protect the environment we will have a greener earth."
