New Tianjin acting mayor appointed

Huang Xingguo, Tianjin vice mayor, was appointed acting mayor of the major port city situated southeast of Beijing on Friday.

Huang was appointed by the Standing Committee of the Tianjin Municipal People's Congress to replace Dai Xianglong who resigned from the post.

Huang, 53, was born in the eastern Zhejiang Province. He joined the Communist Party of China in 1973 and had served as Tianjin vice mayor since November 2003.
